Westlife's Kian Egan has tied the knot with actress fiancee Jodi Albert in a paradise wedding in Barbados.

The couple had been enjoying a romantic Caribbean holiday with friends in the run up to their nuptials.

The pair wed in a romantic ceremony on Turtle Beach serenaded by a gospel choir playing Love is in the Air, according to the Daily Star.

A steel band played afterwards while guests sipped champagne.

Kian, 29, and Jodi, 25, later headed off to their reception at an exclusive mansion usually frequented by Simon Cowell when he holidays on the island.

Former Hollyoaks actress Jodi was joined by former on-screen family Ali Bastian, who played Becca Dean, and Carly Stenson, who played Steph Dean, in the Channel 4 soap.

The couple and wedding pals enjoyed the sunny resort last week ahead of the nuptials at the weekend.

Kian, who is set to perform with his group in Christchurch, New Zealand later this month, was spotted enjoying the surf and taking romantic strolls on the beach with his bride-to-be.

The couple became engaged in December after almost four and a half years together.

His former bandmate, Brian McFadden, is also due to wed after he announced his engagement to Australian singer Delta Goodrem following his divorce from Kerry Katona.

Westlife singer Kian Egan will enjoy an early summer wedding as he plans to marry fiancée Jodi Albert in Barbados on 8 May.

The couple announced their wedding plans in early February but had done their best to keep details of their special day private. Egan’s manager and X Factor judge Louis Walsh confirmed last week that the couple would pledge their vows in the beautiful beach holiday setting of the Carribbean.

Like other celebrity weddings and honeymoons, there will be no cheap deals to be found at this lavish event. Some of the celebrity gossip columns have already speculated that the wedding will cost over €1 million. Barbados is one of the most popular of the Carribbean destinations with beautiful beaches and crystal clear water.

Kian and Jodie are due to be married at one of the premier luxury hotels in Barbados, the Sandy Lane resort. The exclusively luxury holiday resort holds special memories for the couple. It was in April last year that the Irish singer and English actress fell in love whilst on an all inclusive Caribbean holiday.

Jodi revealed to Herald.ie that Barbados was her ideal destination for a dream wedding: ‘The wedding reflects exactly who me and Kian are as a couple. It’s so ‘us’, it’s our vibe and everything. It’s brilliant and I can’t wait for it!’

Louis Walsh said that he planned to take a break from his holiday in Miami to be with the couple on their special day. The manager has a hectic schedule coming up this year with five of his acts working on new albums.

The semi-finalists in The Sligo Champion/ Catwalk Modelling Agency/ Castle Dargan Hotel Seach for A Model competition have been announced. The competition was open to men and women, aged 18 years or over.

Judges, Gillian Filan (wife of Westlife singer Shane), Mandy Maher (Catwalk Modelling Agency) and Jakki Brannigan (Sales Manager, The Sligo Champion) made their selection this week.

Ten finalists to go forward to the Grand Final in the Castle Dargan Hotel on Thursday, April 30th, will be chosen tomorrow at the hotel.

The overall winner will receive a truly magnificent prize package, including a Grooming and Deportment Course from Catwalk Modelling Agency, Galway; a €1,000 shopping voucher, sponsored by Johnston Court Shopping Centre; a weekend break for two in Paris; and a range of prizes from Bella Makeover Studio, Dublin, including a champagne bucks fizz reception, make-up consultation and lesson; hairstyling, photoshoot, viewing session and the choice of the best eight images fully airbrushed on a cd rom, including an 8 x 10 print.

Asked about the modelling competition Gillian said:

"I think it's a great idea. There are so many stunning looking girls in Sligo who could definitely make careers in the modelling profession, and this is a genuine opportunity for somebody to make a significant breakthrough,".

"Dublin has always had lots of modelling competitions, so I suppose it's only natural that most models are based in or close to the capital. But competitions like this provide an opportunity for girls to have a chance in their own area, and that's very important.

"It will be very interesting to find a model in Sligo and to see how far that person can take it. While I would hate to think it would all be very serious, it is nonetheless an important opportunity for anyone who feels they might have a talent in this regard," .

"My advice to anybody considering entering the competition would be, firstly, to go out and enjoy it. It has to be fun, or there's no point doing it. My other tip would be not to be shy or lacking in confidence. Leave all those inhibitions behind and really go for it.

"I know it's going to be a great night when the final is staged in the Castle Dargan Hotel on April 30th. I'm really looking forward to it," she concludes.

"In fact, I do actually have Irish blood as my granny is from Limerick -- she was so thrilled when I started going out with Kian, because he's Irish."

While looking forward to marital bliss with Kian, there are no plans for any babies just yet.

"I still think I'm a bit young to start a family. I want to have a really successful career before I start a family, so it'll be another few years at least. I definitely want children but when the time comes I want to be a full-time mum and be there for them all the time."

Louis Walsh's new girlband, who received rave reviews after their appearance on The Late Late Show last year, still have no name.

"We think the name of the band is going to be called Wildflower -- it's not definite at all but it's a name we have all agreed that we really like. We think it suits the band and we prefer it to anything else we've heard so far. It's up to the record company and management at the end of the day. We're hoping to have out first single out this summer, but it could be September. It's very exciting -- you won't be disappointed," she promised.

There are clearly no tensions in the band as band-mates Kasey, Corinna, Sharon and Leigh partied away with Jodi on her hen night.

"These girls are the best -- truly and honestly. I couldn't have asked for better friends and band-mates. We all get on really well and are all very hard workers," Jodie added.

On her much talked about audition back in July last year -- where thousands of Irish girls competed for a spot in Louis' new group -- the bride-to-be remains adamant that favouritism didn't play a part, even though fiance Kian Egan was a judge.

"I have honestly never been so nervous in my life! I really felt the pressure -- everyone was staring at me... I knew I had to give my best ever performance -- I had butterflies in my stomach.

"But the truth is that Kian is a very smart business-man, like Louis, and he would never have put anyone in a girl group if he didn't think they were up to it.

Proud

"He's too smart for that and wouldn't have let me be part of the group if he didn't think I had the voice. That's why it means a lot that Kian wants me in the band that he's managing... I'm honestly so proud to get the chance to work with him. He's the best," she said.

The bubbly beauty also admits that Louis Walsh is tough but fair.

"Louis is great to work with but I will say he has very, very high standards and he demands 100pc from all of us girls the whole time.

"He is tough -- but that's why he's so successful," she adds.

Cute brothers Jay and Rocco may be Ireland's most famous twins but their second birthday on Monday will be a quiet affair.

The grandsons of former Taoiseach Bertie Ahern will celebrate at a family gathering in Portugal.

As the sons of Westlife's Nicky Byrne and Bertie's daughter Georgina, and the nephews of successful author Cecilia Ahern, the boys are no strangers to the spotlight, but there are no plans for a big birthday bash.

The pair, who have their own bebo page, were born by c-section at Dublin's Holles Street Hospital six weeks early and had to spend the first month of their lives in the hospital.

The boys weighed just slightly more than a bag of sugar between them when they were born, with Jay weighing just 2lb 13oz and Rocco a minuscule 2lb 11oz.

Since then, they have been thriving, growing sturdy and strong at their lavish Malahide home.

Energy

According to their grandfather they are "full of energy. They love fun and games".

They even poked fun at their famous grandfather before Christmas when he broke his leg and had it in a plaster cast.

"They were imitating me everywhere and falling on the ground pretending they had hurt their legs," Bertie said.

The twins have also appeared on the Late Late Show with their Dad as a surprise for one of Nicky's biggest fans, Shauna Byrne (10), just two months before she sadly lost her battle with cystic fibrosis in February.

Last year for their milestone first birthday, champagne flowed at a family party in the Grand Hotel in Malahide but this year is more of a family event.

Doting dad Nicky, took a year off from his chart-topping band to spend time with Georgina and the twins and has said he still wants to have more children.

"Hopefully we're not done yet -- we would love to have more kids.

"I have always said I would have five," Nicky said.

"I don't know if I can convince Georgina on that, but we'll see," he later revealed.

Good news today for football fans and especially fans of former Irish professional player Roy Keane (Keano). After months out of the football spotlight he has today been confirmed as the new manager of Ipswich Town Football Club, just one day after the current manager was sensationally sacked.

Roy Keane boasts many celebrity fans throughout the world one of whom is fellow Irishman Westlife singer Nicky Byrne. Nicky, previously played for Leeds United as a youngster hoping to follow in the footsteps of his idol. Sadly that was not meant to be and Nicky went on to become a member of the famous Irish boy band Westlife.

Nicky is such a fan of the Irish star he even named the dog he bought for his then fiancée Georgina after him when he also proposed to her.

What the ef is going on? This is just weird! For two stars who are probably more sought after than Brangelina, you would think we could see some damning pics of them cruising around together. FORMER Taoiseach Bertie Ahern was joined last night by his two daughters, ex-wife and former partner as he mourned his late friend Senator Tony Kett.

Mr Ahern was in tears as he was the first to comfort the Kett family on their loss at the Church of the Nativity in Beaumont, Dublin.

Taoiseach Brian Cowen was also in attendance, along with a host of ministers, TDs, senators and councillors.

The Tricolour flew at half-mast at Leinster House in a mark of respect to the Fianna Fail senator who died at the age of 57 after a long illness.

Hundreds of friends and constituents attended to extend their sympathies to Mr Kett's wife Noreen, son Jason, daughters Joanne and Jennifer, daughter-in-law Zoe and granddaughter Isabelle.

Mr Ahern was accompanied by his daughters Cecelia and Georgina and their respective partners David Keoghan and Nicky Byrne of Westlife. His former wife Miriam Ahern was also in attendance, along with his ex-partner Celia Larkin.

Senior ministers who were in attendance included Social and Family Affairs Minister Mary Hanafin and Justice Minister Dermot Ahern.

The funeral of Mr Kett takes place today in Beaumont at 11.30am, after which he will be buried in Fingal Cemetery.

A member of Fianna Fail for almost 40 years, Mr Kett was a close friend and adviser to Mr Ahern, who said he was deeply saddened by his death. The senator helped with all of Mr Ahern's election campaigns and was co-opted onto Dublin City Council in 1988 after Mr Ahern's appointment as Labour Minister, getting re-elected in 1991 and 1999.

In recent days, the Taoiseach has hailed Mr Kett as an " experienced, valued and extremely popular member of Fianna Fail".

"They want everything to be just perfect for their big day so they're leaving nothing to chance," said a source.

"Because both of them are so busy with their careers, Kian and Jodi have hired a celebrity wedding planner to help them with all the details.

"Kian also loves surfing so somewhere like Barbados is perfect for him."

Speaking recently about their forthcoming wedding, Jodi confirmed that they had found their venue but wouldn't comment any further apart from saying that they're "really happy with it and that I'm so excited".

She added: "The wedding reflects exactly who me and Kian are as a couple. It's so 'us', it's our vibe and everything. It's brilliant and I can't wait for it!"

At the start of this month, the star’s request to adopt a four year old girl, Mercy James, from a Malawian orphanage was turned down after the judge presiding over the case ruled that the singer failed to meet the residency requirement necessary for international adoptions.

Now her legal team led by lawyer Alan Chinula have been told they can take the case to Malawi’s Supreme Court of Appeal from 4th May.

A source explained: “They didn’t think in a million years that she would be turned down so they weren’t prepared for it in the slightest.

“They’re better prepared for the appeal and are confident that Madonna will get her little girl after all.”

The star is not required to attend the hearing, which could last up to two weeks.

There's a good reason why a Robsten romance is being kept on the DL, or being told to not happen at all. Can you imagine what fans would think if Robsten went public and then broke up?

All Twilight hell would break loose because their favorite onscreen couple would no longer be just that in real life. Or, Mormon-God forbid, what if there was a real nasty split between K and R and they wouldn't even want to work together in future Twilight films. If I were a suit, I would be concerned too. But we're not, so make Robsten happen!

Singer Mariah Carey is struggling to get to sleep at night.

And in order to pass her time, the stunner has taken to watching her husband Nick Cannon doze peacefully while she is wide awake, reports The ‘China Daily’.

She wrote on her Twitter page: "I just finished working out. Whooo! Quite naturally, ''its 5am and I still can't sleep''(sung like ''crybaby'' from ''Rainbow'' 99)lol Who's up?

"Nick is too cute when he's sleep! I wish he didn't have to work tomorrow so he could help me sleep all day and I could sing all nite (sic)!"

Mariah is not the only celebrity to have sleepless nights. Robbie Williams often finds it difficult to drop off.

A source said: "Rob has a problem sleeping and it's very hard for him to know what to do after he has performed."

Earlier, beauty Salma Hayek had also revealed that after having daughter Valentina Paloma, she didn't sleep for six months.

She said: "I don't even remember what my life was like before. I can tell you that I don't sleep. This is a cliche but it's true. I haven't slept in the last six months.

"The blessing of having a healthy child, I think is the best thing that can happen to anyone."

According to reports, the ‘Umbrella’ hitmaker is keen to get back with him and has been sending him photographs of homes on sale.

A pal of Rihanna has revealed that she is planning to rekindle her romance with Brown but wants to keep it under wraps for a while.

Britney Spears is to star at this year's MTV Video Music Awards, a year after a calamitous comeback performance at the same award ceremony, but this time the pop singer won't be performing.

Spears will be opening the 25th annual edition of the MTV VMAs on Sunday at Paramount Studios in Hollywood, according to MTV's website.

This means she will be on hand if she does win an award with Spears garnering three nominations for the clip to her single Piece of Me -- Best Female Video, Best Pop Video and Video of the Year.

"MTV has long played an important role in my career," Spears said in a statement. "How can I not be there to kick off their 25th VMAs? I'm excited to open the entire show, to say hi to my fans and to be nominated."

Exactly how she planned to open the show remained unclear. In previous appearances she has kissed Madonna and performed with a writhing snake.

Spears has yet to win an MTV Video Music Award and her nominations this year are particularly tantalising after her much-derided appearance last year when she lip-synched her way through a dance number in an ill-fitting black bikini.

Coming off two marriages, two children and two stints in rehab, Spears sought to launch a career comeback on last year's show with a performance of the song Gimme More that proved a publicity bomb for her but a ratings boon for MTV.

But with Spears said to be back in the recording studio this summer working on a new album and cleaning up her act, MTV has made the most of the suspense surrounding her possible return to the VMAs, refusing until Wednesday to say whether she might appear as either a presenter or performer.

The MTV VMAs, long considered a hipper version of the Grammys, will be broadcast live on MTV on Sept. 7, hosted by British comedian Russell Brand.

In the category for Video of the Year, Spears is competing against the Jonas Brothers' Burnin Up, Chris Brown's Forever, The Pussycat Dolls' When I Grow Up and Shut Up and Let Me Go by the Ting Tings.

Miley Cyrus' 16th birthday party was more boisterous than sweet. Cyrus celebrated the hallmark birthday at an over-the-top Disneyland celebration Sunday - even though she doesn't actually turn 16 until Nov 23. The theme park was closed for the supersized soiree, which included a four-song performance by the teen queen and a fireworks display above Sleeping Beauty Castle and 16 giant inflatable candles.

"Miley is really hard to surprise," her father Billy Ray Cyrus said at the event.

Organizers estimated over 5,000 people attended the special party, which cost $250 a ticket. On the event's purple carpet - that's Cyrus' favorite color - the "Hannah Montana" star bragged that her parents bought her a new puppy for her birthday. What else does Cyrus want for her birthday? A new car? Perhaps a later curfew?

"My parents shut down Disneyland for me, so I'm good for a while," Cyrus said.

Cyrus' father opened up for his daughter with a few of his own songs, including "Achy Breaky Heart." His daughter donned a white ruffled skirt and jersey-like vest with "Sweet 16" printed on the back for her truncated concert. At one point, Cyrus boarded a boat in the park's Rivers of America and crooned such tunes as "Breakout" and "G.N.O."

Throughout the evening, several popular attractions, such as Big Thunder Mountain and Pirates of the Caribbean, remained open to partygoers. Additional activities, like receiving a "Hannah Montana" makeover and playing the upcoming Disney Interactive Studios rhythm video game "Ultimate Band," were also made available to attendees.

Partygoers ogled celebrities roaming around the park throughout the party. David Archuleta and his entourage skipped the line to ride Space Mountain. Jennie Garth and her family ducked out before the fireworks display capping the celebration. Other stars in attendance included Steve Carell, Cindy Crawford, Tyra Banks and Jennifer Love Hewitt.

Disney used the event to promote their upcoming "What Will You Celebrate?" marketing initiative, which encourages tourists to take "celebration vacations" with their families. Beginning in 2009, guests at Disneyland and Walt Disney World in Florida can gain free theme park admission on their birthday with a valid ID and proof of birth date.

Over at Disney's California Adventure, Disneyland's sister theme park, an entirely different celebration was occurring during the Sweet 16 event: the 11th annual Gay Days Anaheim, an unofficial gathering of gays and lesbians at the Disneyland Resort. Event producer Jeffrey Epstein said Cyrus' affair didn't conflict with Gay Days Anaheim.

"We're happy to share our big weekend with Miley," said Epstein. "While it may be a small world after all, we think it's big enough for both groups to have a blast."
